West beats Swansboro, Richlands in home track meet | Sports

MOREHEAD CITY — West Carteret captured both sides of a three-team track and field home game in very different ways.

The Patriots dominated the girls’ reunion with 135.5 points to beat Swansboro on 15.5 and Richlands on 10.

The boys had a much harder time, leading Swansboro by just three points. West scored 74.5 points while the Pirates had 71.5 points. Richlands finished third at 30.

Sha’niyah Gethers had a great gathering for the girls and attended three events. She won the 100 meters in 20.10 seconds, the 200 meters in 25.6 and the long jump with a jump of 15 feet 2 inches.

Sara Windsor collected two wins, clocking 6:05 in the 1,600 meters and 13:46 in the 3,200 meters.

West won three relays with times of 51.9 over 400 meters, 1:49 over 800 meters and 4:28 over 1,600 meters.

Grace Guilford won the 400 meters in 59.58 and was second in the 200 meters in 25.96.

Hubbard Stack triumphed in the 300 meter hurdles in 53.50 and finished second in the pole vault with a 7-0 vault.

MaryBeth Garrison won the triple jump with a 31-09 Tale of the Tape and placed second in the long jump with a 14-01 jump.

Alexandra Vaequez won the shot put with a 30-01 shot and finished second in the discus throw with a 67-01 throw.

Jayden Lupton snatched the high jump with a 5-0 vault and finished second in the triple jump with a 28:07 vault.

Bella Counts achieved two second places, with times of 6:06 over 1,600 meters and 13:55 over 3,200 meters.

The Patriots went on to have three more wins, with Courtney Tyndall winning the 800 yards in 2:28, Ansley Jones taking first place in the 1,600 yards in 6:20, and Alyssa Cooley sweeping the field 10-0.

Isabella Mennella was runner-up in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 53.90 and took third place in the triple jump with a 28:0 jump.

Emily Skinner was second in the 100 meters in 20.50 and third in the 300 meters hurdles in 56.80.

Taylor Murphy-Canto finished second in the shot put with a 29-04 shot and third in the discus throw with a 63-07 throw.

Ryan Germain was second in the 800 meters in 2:37 followed by Riley Preston in 2:45.

Anna Johnson was third in the pole vault, 6-0, and Kenley Ballou was third in the 200 meters in 27.6.

Matthew Coker collected three top 3 finishes, winning the 300 meter hurdles in 45.0 and the high jump with a 5-06 vault and finishing second in the 110 meter hurdles in 18.10.

Spencer Maxwell won the 200 meters in 22.9 and was second in the 100 meters in 11.26.

Lamar Teel was first in the 100 meters in 11.20 and second in the 200 meters in 23.10.

Peyton Wheeler won the 400m in 51.10, Colton Ellis pole vaulted to victory 11-0 and Noah Munden won the shot put 45-02.

The Patriots won two relays, winning the 400 yards in 44.7 and the 800 yards in 1:33. They placed third in the 400m relay in 3:45.

Hunter Guthrie was second in the 800 meters in 2:11 and third in the high jump by a 5-04 margin.

Chance McCubbin secured two second places, hitting the line in the 1,600 meters in 5:04 and stopping the clock in 11:23 in the 3,200 meters.

Justice Dade’El finished second in the long jump with an 18-01 Tale of the Tape.

Javaris Miller was second in the 200 meters in 23.20, and Xhaiden Mosby was second in the triple jump with a 36-0 vault.
