ST. CLOUD – A total of 22 athletes from six different schools in the area will compete in Grade A and 2A athletics meetings in St. Michael Albertville this week.

Albany and Cathedral together sent 12 athletes from the Section 5A final last week in St. John’s, with eight of the huskies coming. Both Albany 4x800m relays set season bests to qualify for the state, and Kristine Kalthoff (3200m), Olivia Goebel (1600m) and Grant Mayers (800m) will all run individual endurance races.

The Cathedral Boys 4x800m relay took first place, making it the first Crusader athlete to qualify for the state in at least half a decade. Junior gymnast Schad will also compete as an individual in the 3200 m run.

Apollo will send seven athletes to the Class 2A meeting, including the boys’ 4 x 100 m relay and 100 and 200 m individual relay (David Boyd Jr.), 3200 m (Sam Brewer), 800 m m run (Brooke Verkinnes) and triple jump (Noelle.). Hackenmüller). ROCORI (Cecelia Woods, 100m hurdles) Sartell (Evan Flores, pole vault) and Sauk Rapids-Rice (Justus Floren, long jump) each have a starter.

In the honor roll, ROCORI remained at the top with nine boys and 18 girls, which corresponds to 27 entries. Apollo used strong performances in the sprints and good conditions on Saturday in Fergus Falls to rise to a total of 21 participants, most of them for a boys’ team of 13. Sartell (17), Albany (14), Sauk-Rapids Rice (11) Cathedral (10) and Tech (nine) also showed strong performances in the sections. Next week will be the final edition of the 2021 Honor Roll.

During the season, the athletes appear on the list only once per event. For example, if an athlete has the three best surface times in the 100-meter run, only his top performance is on the list.

Here are the top performances in each event from our seven local schools: Albany, Apollo, Cathedral, ROCORI, Sartell, Sauk Rapids-Rice, and Tech. This list is updated every week during the season.

The meeting point for each performance is also listed for each event.
