National City hosts Kimball Celebration

The city of National City is holding their annual holiday celebration, A Kimball Holiday, on Saturday from 2pm to 9pm in Kimball Park. Enjoy a live DJ and LED dance floor, tree lights (6:30 p.m.), Christmas movies, Santa’s Village, a ferris wheel, arts and crafts, food trucks, a snow hill, and community performances. The park is located at 148 E. 12th St. Call (619) 336-4358.

Food distributions suspended for the area

The Feeding of San Diego is hosting a drive-through food distribution Wednesday 10 am to 12 pm at the Pechanga Arena, 3500 Sports Arena Blvd., San Diego.
Each registered participant will receive approximately 50 pounds of dry goods, fresh produce and a frozen meat protein. Register at https://feedingsandiego-dec8.rsvpify.com. Another distribution will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on December 17 at the North Island Credit Union Amphitheater, 2050 Entertainment Circle, Chula Vista. People will also be given information on how to access other food distributions at Feedingsandiego.org/find-food, as well as information about the benefits of CalFresh (SNAP), including how to apply. Snow and more on the Village Walk

The open-air shopping center Village Walk on EastLake offers holiday events with free snowfall, accompanied by music and lights, Thursday through Sunday through December 24th at 6pm and 7pm in the courtyard by the koi pond at 6pm and 7pm. Children get free headbands and “magic glasses” to watch the snow fall in rainbow colors. In addition, from Thursday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., visitors can take holiday photos with life-size cut-outs from Santa Claus, snowmen, Elsa and Olaf throughout the shopping center. New this year is a huge picture frame near the children’s playground today and December 12th. from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. A professional photographer will be available for every family to take “picture perfect” photos with the camera or cell phone. Christmas brunch, DIY gift classes offered

The Olivewood Gardens and Learning Center is offering a holiday brunch cooking class at 11:00 a.m. on December 12th. Gather some ideas for a festive Christmas dinner. Come with a family member or friend, enjoy a drink, cook seasonally inspired recipes, and enjoy your meal outdoors. Register at https://bit.ly/31apMv7. A family DIY gift class will be held at 1:00 p.m. on December 18. This once-a-year family class features gardening and kitchen crafts for DIY take-away gifts! Santa Claus holds holidays

Parkway Plaza hosts hours with Santa Claus, Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sundays from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Christmas Eve from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Make a reservation at visitparkwayplaza.com/holiday. Photos with Santa Claus are also available (see schedule online). Santa Paw’s pet photos start from 4pm to 8pm from November 29th to December 20th. Red Ribbon Week winner

The Police Athletic League’s STAR / PAL program recently announced the winners of the Red Ribbon Week poster competition, featuring grades 3 through 5 at several San Diego elementary schools. The winners were Abigale Wellspeak, Grade 5, Miller Elementary; Ciel Rodriguez, Grade 4, King Chavez Arts & Athletics Academy; and Patricia Martinez, Grade 3, King Chavez Arts & Athletics Academy. All participants received a certificate of attendance with a 7-Eleven free Slurpee certificate. Winners received a certificate of attendance, a Slurpee certificate, and a $ 25 gift card to Walmart, sponsored by Volunteers In Probation Inc. (VIP Inc.)
