SHANKLIN SANDOWN ROWING CLUB SECURE 5 VICTORIES AT SOUTHAMPTON REGATTA – Island Echo

Shanklin Sandown Rowing Club secured 5 victories as they headed to Southampton for the BTC regatta on the Weston coast, the penultimate event of the Hants and Dorset season.

Daisy Faithfull secured the win she needed to lift the 2nd Club of the Season Hants and Dorset Championship with another impressive run in typical coastal conditions.

The Ladies Senior Pairs Championship and the club’s 3rd championship of the season was also shattered with a comfortable win for Daisy & Emily Faithfull while clubmates Kayleigh Batchelor and Yas Wright broke their 100 per cent record with another comfortable win for sustained the season in the women’s junior pair after securing their championship last week.

Emily Faithfull also took the Club’s 4th win in the Ladies Junior Sculls regatta, ensuring the championship is held on the River Itchen until the final regatta of the season next week

The boys J16 quad of Arlo Adds, Ben Smith, Fred Giemza-Pipe, Ollie Hatch and Jane Denby-Roach continued their impressive season with the club’s 5th win of the day, finishing 3 lengths ahead of the home club, where also the crew won 4th place in the men’s junior foursome.

The junior four of Alannah Denness, Abi Swinscoe, Beth Katirewa, Esme Walters and Yas Wright (Cox) coped well with the deteriorating conditions to finish 5th in their first race at that status after promotion at Poole last week.
