POST FALLS — Postseason preparation meetings are getting slimmer, as are times when the weather is – finally – starting to cooperate with the area’s track and field teams.
Post Falls took the combined teams title at the Christina Finney Relays for the second straight year, finishing with 226.83 points.
“Overall, I thought there were really good times everywhere today,” said Post Falls coach Wade Quesnell. “Considering the weather and everything the teams went through, it was a good day.”
Lake City beat Post Falls by 0.30 seconds in the boys’ 4×200 relay.
“They’re pretty balanced,” Quesnell said. “Lake City did really well today. It should be a really good race at the Regionals.”
Post Falls senior Sammie Wood ran the 400 for the first time this season and set another school record by winning in 57.70 seconds. The previous record was held by Wednesday Walton (59.38 in 2013).
“I knew earlier this year that she was going to get that record,” Quesnell said. “I told her she might as well pick a meetup and host it, and she did a great job today.”
Post Falls senior Dalton Wild won both the 100 and 200.
The Lake City girls relay team, consisting of Madison Quigley, Hailey Jo Parks, Georgia Whitehead and Keturah Vogel-Greenwood, won in the 4×100 and 4×200.
