Dak Prescott is one of 16 Cowboys players who did not travel to Canton, Ohio for the Hall of Fame game against the Pittsburgh Steelers tonight.

The others are DE Bradlee Anae, OT Josh Ball, LB Francis Bernard, WR Amari Cooper, DE Chauncey Golston, DB CJ Goodwin, DT Trysten Hill, S Malik Hooker, TE Blake Jarwin,

DE DeMarcus Lawrence, CB Jourdan Lewis, RG Zack Martin, LT Tyron Smith, WR TJ Vasher and K Greg Zuerlein.

But there are still plenty of cowboys to watch out for in their preseason kick-off. Here are some key players to watch out for.

Linebacker: Micah Parsons, Jabril Cox. Parsons was moved across the field during the training camp. It should be interesting to see how much new defensive coordinator Dan Quinn Parsons puts in in his first preseason game. Cox was considered the Cowboys’ biggest draft steal in April. He didn’t excel at camp but this is a good opportunity for him to play some games.

Cornerback: Kelvin Joseph, Nahshon Wright. This is the most interesting group of positions on the list. There seems to be a certain depth of quality. Joseph is fighting for a starting place. Wright wants to prove that he belongs on the rotation.

Defensive tackle: Osa Odighizuwa, Quinton Bohanna. This has been one of Dallas’s weakest position groups for some time. Both rookies have a chance to be an important factor when the games count.

Quarterback: Garrett Gilbert, Ben DiNucci. Gilbert is scheduled to start tonight. He’s the clear favorite to be Prescott’s backup this season. DiNucci didn’t get any preseason work as a rookie last year, so these four preseason games will be of great importance to his development.

Broad receiver: Malik Turner, Reggie Davis. It will be difficult for both of them to get this full squad into position, but they both had some really nice days at training camp.

Close end: Sean McKeon. He was mainly used as a special team player as an undrafted rookie last season. But he has a chance to play a bigger role this year if he continues to play the way he did at camp.
